WHAT IF WORK DIDN’T OWN YOUR LIFE?
We believe there is a better way to build a company. A way where exceptional professionals can deliver exceptional work without surrendering their lives to it.
EXPLORE OUR CULTUREA DIFFERENT PHILOSOPHYWE ARE NOT BUILDING ANOTHER COMPANY.
WE ARE BUILDING A DIFFERENT WAY TO WORK.
Let’s be honest.
For hundreds of years, the basic relationship between a company and a worker has barely changed.
You exchange your time for money.
The company tells you when to arrive.
Where to sit.
When to take a break.
When you can leave.
How much time you are allowed to take away from work.
Where you are expected to be.
And increasingly, somebody somewhere is measuring whether you are online.
You give the company the most valuable thing you will ever have: YOUR TIME.
And somehow we have decided that this is normal.
NAV2BC DOESN’T ACCEPT THAT AS THE DEFINITION OF WORK.
A DIFFERENT PHILOSOPHYTHE WORD “EMPLOYEE” BELONGS TO THE PAST.
We deliberately dislike the word.
Not because we are trying to invent another fashionable corporate term.
Because we reject the mindset behind it.
A human being is not a company resource.
A human being is not a number on an organisational chart.
A human being is not a chair that needs to be occupied between nine and five.
A human being is not a pair of hands that can be replaced when convenient.
And a salary does not buy ownership of somebody’s life.
YOU ARE A HUMAN BEING.
You have one life.
We don’t own it.
Your time belongs to you.
Your family belongs to your life.
Your dreams belong to you.
Your children belong to you.
Your future belongs to you.
Your life belongs to you.
ALWAYS.
WORK WITH USWE DON’T WANT TO EMPLOY YOUR LIFE.
WE WANT TO WORK WITH YOU.
There is a difference.
We don’t care whether you work at five in the morning or eleven at night.
We don’t care whether you’re sitting in an office, at home, in France, Spain, Thailand or somewhere nobody in our organisation has ever heard of.
We don’t care whether you work four highly productive hours or eight.
We care about something much simpler: DID YOU DELIVER WHAT YOU COMMITTED TO DELIVER?
Is the work good?
Did you communicate?
Did you take responsibility?
Did you treat customers and coworkers properly?
Did you solve the problem?
THEN WHY WOULD WE CARE WHAT TIME YOU OPENED YOUR LAPTOP?
FREEDOMFREEDOM IS NOT A COMPANY BENEFIT.
Read that carefully.
FREEDOM IS NOT A PERK.
It isn’t something we put in a recruitment advertisement beside free coffee and a company T-shirt.
It isn’t something you earn after years of loyalty.
It isn’t something somebody can revoke because they didn’t like your attitude.
FREEDOM IS THE FOUNDATION.
We are adults.
We don’t need somebody checking whether we have been sitting at a desk for eight hours.
We don’t need somebody watching our mouse movements.
We don’t need somebody measuring commitment by a Teams status.
We don’t need to pretend that being online means being productive.
If you can deliver exceptional work in four hours, why should we demand eight?
If you do your best thinking at midnight, why should we force you to work in the morning?
If your child needs you one afternoon, why should somebody else’s calendar decide that you cannot be there?
LIFE DOESN’T HAPPEN BETWEEN WORKING HOURS.
Life happens all the time.
LIFEYOUR LIFE IS NOT THE PRICE OF YOUR CAREER.
This is where we are most serious.
We don’t want people reaching the end of their careers and wondering where their life went.
We don’t want someone to look back after decades and realise that their children grew up while they were sitting in meetings.
We don’t want people postponing their dreams until retirement.
We don’t want someone saying:
“One day I’ll travel.”
“One day I’ll spend more time with my family.”
“One day I’ll do what I actually want to do.”
Because one day isn’t guaranteed.
YOUR LIFE IS HAPPENING NOW.
And we believe a good company should understand that.
RESPONSIBILITYFREEDOM DOESN’T MEAN DOING NOTHING.
This is not a philosophy of laziness.
Quite the opposite.
FREEDOM REQUIRES MATURITY.
When nobody is standing over you, there is nowhere to hide.
You either deliver or you don’t.
You either communicate or you don’t.
You either take ownership or you don’t.
We expect exceptional professionals to behave like exceptional professionals.
And in return, we treat them like adults.
TRUST GOES BOTH WAYS.
We don’t want control.
We want responsibility.
We don’t want obedience.
We want ownership.
We don’t want hours.
We want results.
We don’t want people pretending to work.
WE WANT PEOPLE DOING WORK THEY ARE PROUD OF.
WORK WITH USWORK WITH US. DON’T GIVE YOUR LIFE TO US.
This may be the most important distinction of all.
If you work with NAV2BC, we want you to become better at what you do.
We want you to earn well.
We want you to learn.
We want you to travel.
We want you to spend time with your family.
We want you to pursue your interests.
We want you to build your own dreams.
WE WANT YOUR LIFE TO BECOME BIGGER, NOT SMALLER, BECAUSE YOU WORK WITH US.
And if one day you decide to leave and build something completely different?
We’ll respect that too.
BECAUSE YOU WERE NEVER OURS.
You were always yours.
THE OLD MODELWE DON’T MEASURE PEOPLE BY SURVEILLANCE.
We don’t care whether you work at three in the morning.
We don’t care whether you work at midnight.
We don’t care whether you start at five in the morning.
We don’t care whether you work from France, Spain, Thailand, a van, your home, an office, or somewhere completely different.
We don’t care whether you spend part of the afternoon with your child.
We don’t care whether you take time to travel, dive, watch a sunrise, or spend time with people you love.
We care that when you work, you do excellent work.
And when life needs you, you should be able to live it.
WE DON’T OWN YOUR TIME.
We don’t measure commitment by the number of hours your laptop is open.
We don’t care if Teams says Available.
We don’t need to watch your mouse.
We don’t need to count hours in a chair.
YOUR WORK SHOULD SPEAK FOR YOU.
PRODUCTIVITYRESULTS MATTER MORE THAN HOURS.
If you can deliver exceptional work in three hours, why force you to pretend you need eight?
If your best thinking happens at midnight, why should somebody else’s schedule decide when you are allowed to think?
If you need to step away during the day and return later with a clear mind, why should that be treated as a failure?
Traditional systems often measure presence because presence is easy to measure.
But presence is not productivity.
Being online is not the same as contributing.
Sitting at a desk is not the same as solving a problem.
WE MEASURE WHAT MATTERS.
Quality.
Delivery.
Communication.
Responsibility.
Trust.
TRUSTTRUST IS NOT A SLOGAN.
Trust means allowing people to make decisions.
Trust means accepting that different people work differently.
Trust means understanding that somebody else’s way of organising their life does not have to look like yours.
Trust means giving professionals room to think.
Trust means allowing people to own their work.
And trust means being prepared to deal honestly with the consequences when something doesn’t work.
TRUST DOES NOT REMOVE ACCOUNTABILITY.
It makes accountability meaningful.
Nobody needs to be watched when they understand that their reputation is built by the work they deliver.
Nobody needs to be controlled when they genuinely take ownership.
WHYWHY ARE WE DOING THIS?
Because we’ve experienced the other way.
We’ve seen what happens when companies treat people as resources.
We’ve seen talented people become exhausted.
We’ve seen freedom replaced by policies.
Trust replaced by monitoring.
Creativity replaced by bureaucracy.
Life replaced by work.
AND WE REFUSE TO REPRODUCE IT.
We don’t pretend we can change the entire world.
But we can decide what kind of company we build.
And if enough companies make a different choice, perhaps eventually people will stop asking:
“Why should work be like this?”
And start asking:
“WHY WAS IT EVER LIKE THAT?”
A MESSAGE TO THE OLD MODELTO THE COMPANIES READING THIS…
Yes.
We’re serious.
You can keep counting hours.
Keep measuring online status.
Keep filling calendars.
Keep calling people “resources.”
Keep congratulating yourselves because everyone arrived on time.
Keep believing that more hours means more commitment.
That’s your choice.
WE’RE CHOOSING SOMETHING ELSE.
We’re choosing trust.
We’re choosing freedom.
We’re choosing responsibility.
We’re choosing people.
And we’re betting that people who are treated like responsible adults will behave like responsible adults.
THAT’S OUR EXPERIMENT.
TO THE PROFESSIONALTO THE PROFESSIONAL READING THIS
MAYBE YOU ARE READING THIS AT WORK RIGHT NOW.
Maybe you have another meeting in a few minutes.
Maybe somebody is checking whether you’re online.
Maybe you’re looking at this page on a second monitor.
Maybe you’re wondering why work has somehow become the biggest part of your life.
Maybe you’ve been telling yourself:
“I’ll live properly when I retire.”
DON’T.
Your life is already happening.
And there are companies trying to build a different future.
WE ARE ONE OF THEM.
NAV2BCWORK SHOULD GIVE SOMETHING BACK TO THE PERSON DOING IT.
We don’t want your life.
WE WANT YOUR BEST WORK.
We want you to succeed.
We want the company to succeed.
And we want you to close your laptop at the end of the day and still have enough of yourself left to actually enjoy being alive.
Because a company that succeeds while destroying the lives of the people who built it…
